Since last month, the collection of the Residenzgalerie Salzburg can be consulted online.  The Residenzgalerie is the first of four institutions of the DomQuartier Salzburg that has digitized its collection and make it accessible. Other institutions, including the State Rooms, the Cathedral Museum and the St. Peter’s museum will follow later. 

The online catalogue includes all paintings, graphic work, decorative art objects and sculptures from the collection’s holdings. Entries are accompanied by high-quality photos that are available for non-commercial use. The catalogue will be continually updated and expanded to include the latest research findings. The Residenzgalerie Salzburg houses the most precious paintings collection of the Province Salzburg. The focus of the collection is on European paintings from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century. In addition to important Italian, French and Austrian masters of the baroque and Austrian art of the nineteenth century, Dutch art of the seventeenth century is a prominent high-point of the collection: Rembrandt, Salomon van Ruysdael, Jan Davidsz. de Heem, Jan van Goyen, Peter Paul Rubens, Jan Brueghel the Elder and others have been acquired from the former Viennese Czernin collection.
