Patrimonio Nacional

Information

Patrimonio Nacional (National Heritage) is a Spanish autonomous agency that manages properties owned by the state and used by the Spanish royal family for residences and official ceremonies. Under the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, the agency oversees a variety of royal sites, including palaces, gardens, monasteries, and convents.

Among its extensive holdings are significant collections of art by Flemish artists who were active in Spain between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. These works can be seen at several royal sites, including the Palacio Real de Madríd, Real Monasterio de la Encarnación, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and the Palacio Real in Aranjuez. Since 2020, Patrimonio Nacional also administers the Royal Collections Gallery (Galería de las Colecciones Reales) as a dedicated museum for its collections.
