A Two-Day Study Visit to Flanders on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 November 2026
On Tuesday, 24 November, we will visit the Museum Hof van Busleyden to view the exhibition Burgundian Dining: At the Table in the Low Countries.
Curator of Old Masters, Hannah Iterbeke, will provide an introduction to the exhibition, followed by an exclusive visit. During this gathering, CODART members will dive into Mechelen’s 500-year history to discover the roots of our culinary culture. The exhibition connects the sensory world of historic banquets with today’s questions about abundance and waste. Next, Head of Collections & Exhibitions Hannah Thijs will tell us more about the museum’s refurbishment and guide us through the newly renovated spaces in person.
On Wednesday, 25 November, we will continue with the CODARTfocus in M Leuven. In collaboration with Ards | the platform for medieval sculpture Wednesday’s program will be dedicated to the exhibition Scultori Fiamminghi. Flemish Sculptors in Italy, curated by Marjan Debaene, Head Curator Old Masters at M Leuven. Her introduction will be followed by in-depth lectures by Frits Scholten (Former Senior Curator of Sculpture, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam), Vera De Boeck (Curator, Museum aan de Stroom) and Vincent Cattersel (Assistant Professor, University of Antwerp).
We look forward to welcoming you in Belgium in November. View the full program for more details. For more practical information and to register for this CODARTfocus, please go to the participate page. If you have any questions about this event, please contact us at events@codart.nl.
