Information
The collection of Museu de Arte in São Paulo (MASP) numbers some 12,000 artworks, encompassing diverse historical periods and geographical regions. Among the Dutch and Flemish holdings, noteworthy names include prominent fifteenth-century masters such as Hans Memling and Hieronymus Bosch, alongside the sixteenth-century painter Jan van Dornicke, an artist whose work is rarely represented in public collections worldwide. The collection also features key seventeenth-century figures like Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, Frans Hals, Rembrandt van Rijn, and Frans Post— the latter holding the distinction of having been the first European artist to paint Brazil—as well as modern artists.
Comprising paintings, drawings, prints, and decorative arts, the collection reflects dialogues between regional traditions and the global circulation of images, providing a comprehensive overview of artistic production from this region from the fifteenth to twentieth centuries.
