CODART Memories: Study Trip to Poland (2004)

In April 2004, a group of CODART members visited the three polish cities of Gdańsk, Warsaw and Cracow. This picture was taken on a rainy Saturday, 24 April, during a walk on Cracow’s Wawel Hill. The participants had just visited the Royal Castle, which you can see in the background of the photo. The tour was led by Joanna Winiewicz-Wolska, curator of paintings in Wawel Castle, who showed some of the 100 Dutch paintings in the collection including works by Jan Sanders van Hemessen, Jan Gossaert, Jacob Adriaensz. Backer, Govert Flinck, Jan Both, Michiel van Musscher, Jan Steen, Caspar Netscher and Nicolaes Maes. Thirteen years later, in 2017, CODART revisited Cracow as an optional excursion during the CODART TWINTIG congress.
