CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

Positive recommendation by Netherlands Arts Council for subsidy for CODART

On the evening of 18 April, the Arts Council of the Netherlands (Raad voor Cultuur) mailed to the 833 applicants for government subsidy for the period 2005-2008 its recommendations concerning their institution. The following day the texts of all recommendations went online. 422 applicants received a positive recommendation.

CODART was among them. The Council wrote: "CODART makes an important contribution to the job of tracking down and profiling Dutch and Flemish art throughout the world. The Council concludes that in the past years CODART has worked in a purposeful fashion towards the accomplishment of its aims. Partly with the use of new technologies, the worldwide network of curators of Dutch and Flemish art has been charted and made accessible to the professional field…. CODART has put together a well-functioning network that, among its other functions, furthers the development of expertise in the area of Dutch and Flemish art."

This very encouraging and welcome recommendation gives us good hope that we will be able to continue our work into the indefinite future.

The full text of the recommendation is available in Dutch on the website of the Raad voor Cultuur.
