Now recognized as one of the most famous and popular artists in the world, legend has it that Vincent van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime. This fascinating exhibition will explore British collectors’ interests in the artist, beginning with the purchase of three works by London publisher Fisher Unwin in the year of van Gogh’s death. About 40 paintings and drawings that were once or still are owned by collectors in Scotland, England and Wales.
