Atelierpraktijken in de Vroege Nederlandse schilderkunst: een symposium ter ere van Prof. Dr. Molly A. Faries

Studio practice in early Netherlandish paintings: a symposium in honor of Prof. Dr. Molly A. Faries symposium: 19 September 2006

To mark the end of her important career as an historian mainly of 15th- and 16th-century painting in the Netherlands, Molly Faries is being honored with a symposium at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. Molly Faries’ particular contribution to the field lies in the application of scientific techniques of examination, notably infrared reflectography, to early Netherlandish paintings. In this pioneering specialty she followed in the footsteps of J.R.J. van Asperen de Boer, whom she succeeded as professor of the technical examination of works of art at Groningen University.

The symposium is organized by the Onderzoeksschool Kunstgeschiedenis (Dutch Postgraduate School for Art History.
