Rembrandt’s Orient: Curator-Led Online Live Tour with Gary Schwartz

Online event: 15 July 2021

On Thursday, 15 July, at 5 pm CEST, guest curator and longtime Rembrandt researcher Gary Schwartz will lead a 360°-view online tour of the exhibition in English. The event is organized by Museum Barberini in Potsdam.

The exhibition Rembrandt’s Orient, on view at the Museum Barberini until 18 July 2021, explores how Netherlandish artists of the seventeenth century responded to Near, Middle, and Far Eastern influences in their painting. The exhibition features key works by artists including Rembrandt, Ferdinand Bol, Jan van der Heyden, Willem Kalf, Pieter Lastman, and Jan Lievens.

Due to the pandemic and the repeated closure of the museum, Gary Schwartz was not able to visit the exhibition he had curated at the Museum Barberini in Potsdam until two weeks ago. Thus we are all the more delighted at the opportunity for him to now lead you on a curator’s tour of the exhibition via Zoom and share his thoughts and impressions with you.

Registration with Zoom is not required to participate in the Live Tour. Before dialing in, we recommend installing the Zoom app or using the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge internet browser. Please dial in shortly before the event with your full name via the link provided: Zoom Link Live Tour
