On Monday, 9 March 2020, (the Monday after the opening of TEFAF Maastricht), the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is hosting a symposium in conjunction with the exhibition Rembrandt and Amsterdam portraiture, 1590-1670, which opens to the public on 18 February 2020.
The exhibition, which is guest-curated by Norbert E. Middelkoop, intends to present some of the best Amsterdam portraits made during the Dutch ‘Golden Age’, with Rembrandt as the natural focal point. An outstanding selection of paintings, drawings and prints will enable the visitor to admire the great variety and exceptional quality of these artworks and meanwhile become acquainted with the stories behind many of the faces.
