Information
Founded in 1895, the National Museum of Fine Arts (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) of Buenos Aires houses a collection that is considered one of the most important in Latin America. Besides works of local art, it possesses collections of Spanish painting, French Impressionists, Italian artists and works by Flemish and Dutch artists from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. The latter group includes paintings by Jan Brueghel and Hendric van Balen, Herri met de Bles, Adrien van Isenbrandt, Jasper van der Lanen, Joachim Patinir, Frans Pourbus, Peter Paul Rubens, Hans Speckaert, Jan Thomas van Yperen, Ludolf Backhuizen, Salomon de Bray, Albert Cuyp, Govert Flinck, Aert de Gelder, Jan van Huchtenburg, Jacob van Loo, Paulus Moreelse, Jacob Cornelisz. Van Oostzanen, Jan Anthonisz. Van Ravesteyn, Rembrandt, and David Vinckboons. The museum also has a small collection of Dutch and Flemish drawings and engravings.
