Prado seeking advanced student for internship on the Dutch art in the museum

The Johan Brouwer Fund is offering a three- to six-month grant to an advanced student to work on the small holdings in Dutch art in a museum that is fabulously rich in work from the southern Netherlands.

Effective immediately, the Johan Brouwer Fund, in cooperation with the Prado and the Netherlands Institute in Madrid, is making a grant available for this purpose.

The internship consists primarily in research on behalf of cataloguing the Dutch prints and paintings in the Prado. In the second place, the intern may be called upon to perform other tasks in the department of paintings. The supervisor is the senior curator of Flemish and northern European paintings in the Prado, Alexander Vergara.

Requirements:

  • Advanced student in art history, specialized in Dutch painting of the 17th century
  • Outstanding study record
  • Command of English, in writing as well as speech
  • Ability to read and speak Spanish
  • Flexibility.
