After a refurbishment of about 2 years, the Dordrechts Museum will be once again open as of Sunday, 28 November. On this day, the museum can be freely visited between 13:00 and 18:00. As of that weekend the opening hours of the Huis Van Gijn will be the same of that of the Dordrechts Museum.
A new wing has been added to the Dordrechts Museum which will be used for temporary exhibitions. At the re-opening, Verzamelaars in Dordrecht (Collectors in Dordrecht) will be on show. Collectors such as Leendert Dupper, Willem Hendrik van Bilderbeek and Hidde Nijland were of great importance to the museum. This is shown in the museum’s impressive 19th-century painting collection with masterpieces from Breitner, Weissenbruch and Toorop. In the new museum, visitors will find many new facilities including a lounge, education studio, exclusive museum shop and restaurant. The restaurant is also open after museum hours.
