A new volume in the series of collection catalogues of the Rijksmuseum’s paintings will appear in 2009 under the title Dutch paintings of the sixteenth century in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, volume I – Artists born before 1500. It will contain detailed descriptions of around 160 paintings based on intensive technical and iconographic research. Color reproductions of all the works and relevant comparative illustrations will help to make this an attractive and enlightening publication. The catalogue will be accessible on the Rijksmuseum’s website.
As a foretaste of this digital catalogue, the Rijksmuseum presents a selection of 22 paintings. The contents of this preview are completely up-to-date, and will later be incorporated in full and, in principle, unchanged in the complete web catalogue.
