Pieter Roelofs is to be the new curator of 17th-century painting of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Roelofs (34) will be responsible among other things for restoration projects and the catalogue of paintings by artists from the generation of Rembrandt. He will succeed Taco Dibbits, who has become head of the Rijksmuseum department of paintings, sculpture and applied arts. Roelofs will be closely involved with preparations for the presentation of the Golden Age in the New Rijksmuseum. Since September 2003, Roelofs has been curator of old art at Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen. In the past years he has organized various exhibitions, including The mirror of the Russian soul in 2004 and The Limbourg Brothers in 2005.
