Tracing Contested Histories: The Challenges and Future of Provenance Research
From 16 to 18 March 2025 the 26th CODART Congress will take place in Cologne. The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud will be our main host for the three-day event. In addition to lectures and case studies on the congress theme, the program offers you exclusive visits to Cologne Cathedral and Museum Schnütgen amongst others. On Tuesday, the Kunststation St. Peter will exceptionally unveil their Rubens Altarpiece for us during Lent. As always, there will be ample time for networking.
The theme of CODART 26 is: Tracing Contested Histories: The Challenges and Future of Provenance Research. In recent decades, provenance research and issues of looted art have become integral to the everyday practice of curators of Dutch and Flemish Art. Countless case studies have been published in recent years, and looted art has become the subject of numerous research projects, lectures, debates, expert meetings and round table discussions. Despite this, it remains a complex topic with many subtle challenges, making it an important subject to discuss together at CODART 26. You can find the full text of the congress theme on this page.
We thank all our partners in Cologne and look forward to welcoming our members there in March!
