Tracing Contested Histories: The Challenges and Future of Provenance Research
From 16 to 18 March 2025 the 26th CODART Congress will take place in Cologne. The Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud will be our main host for the three-day event, which will include visits to other locations, lectures, case studies and ample time for networking.
“Tracing Contested Histories: The Challenges and Future of Provenance Research”, will be the theme of CODART 26. In recent decades, provenance research and issues of looted art have become integral to the everyday practice of curators of Dutch and Flemish Art. Countless case studies have been published in recent years, and looted art has become the subject of numerous research projects, lectures, debates, expert meetings and round table discussions. Despite this, it remains a complex topic with many subtle challenges, making it an important subject to discuss together at CODART 26. You can find the full text of the congress theme on this page.
A preliminary program and more information about registration will be available on our website in the autumn. We look forward to welcoming you in Cologne!
