The Baltimore Museum of Art has appointed Alexandra Letvin as Senior Curator and Department Head of European Painting and Sculpture. Letvin joins the institution from the Princeton University Art Museum, where she serves as Curator of European Art. In her new role, she will lead the stewardship, presentation, and growth of the museum’s collection of fifteenth- through nineteenth-century European art, while guiding future gallery installations and research.

A specialist in early modern Spanish art and a CODART member from 2020 through 2025, Letvin has organized exhibitions spanning from the medieval period to the mid-twentieth century. At Princeton, she served as curatorial lead for the installation of the European galleries in the museum’s new building, developing displays focused on materiality, mobility, and artistic exchange. She previously held positions at the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Meadows Museum.

Letvin holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in art history from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from Williams College. She previously worked at the Baltimore Museum of Art as a Carlson-Cowart Fellow in the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs.
