Edwin Buijsen Wins Karel van Mander Prize for Publication on Adriaen van de Venne

The Vereniging van Nederlandse Kunsthistorici (Dutch Association of Art Historians) has awarded its annual Karel van Mander prize to Edwin Buijsen. The Head of Collections at the Mauritshuis received the award for his publication De schilderijenproductie van Adriaen Pietersz. van de Venne (1589-1662): traditie, innovatie, commercie (2018). The Karel van Mander prize has been awarded to extraordinary art-historical publications since 1958.

According to the jury, Buijsen’s publication is a very complete monograph. Classically constructed and in terms of content – both in width and in depth – very thorough and innovative. For the complete jury report, see the VNK-website (in Dutch).
