CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

New Curator in the Spotlight: Helen Hillyard

In the latest edition of Curator in the Spotlight, Helen Hillyard (CODART member since 2016) talks about storytelling as a cornerstone of her curatorial practice and connecting historical collections to the present. Helen’s passion for Dutch and Flemish art, and her sense of the importance of making art feel relevant and accessible, were shaped by her experiences at the National Gallery in London and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. She is currently Head of Collections at Dulwich Picture Gallery, where she leads experimental projects that offer alternative ways of engaging with art.

Curator in the Spotlight

The Curator in the Spotlight is a special feature on the CODART website that introduces one of CODART’s members and their work as a curator of Dutch and Flemish art. Every time a different curator writes about their work, projects and exhibitions, and a piece in their collection that is special to them. Recent curators in the spotlight included Tom van der Molen, Greta Koppel, Bernd Ebert, and Liesbeth Helmus.
