To celebrate our 25th anniversary, this year the Curator in the Spotlight section features members that have been involved with CODART since the very beginning.
Just before starting her degree course in Dutch language and literature, Liesbeth Helmus was enchanted by the artistic treasures she saw during a tour of Southern Italy and decided to study art history instead. The artistic exchange between Italian artists and artists from the Low Countries remained an important theme throughout her curatorial career at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. In her contribution as Curator in the Spotlight she reflects on several research and exhibition projects and the importance of collaboration, inside and outside of the museum.
Liesbeth M. Helmus is Senior Curator of Old Masters at Centraal Museum in Utrecht. She has been a member of CODART since 1998.

Curator in the Spotlight
The Curator in the Spotlight is a special feature on the CODART website that introduces one of CODART’s members and their work as a curator of Dutch and Flemish art. Every time a different curator writes about their work, projects and exhibitions, and a piece in their collection that is special to them. Recent curators in the spotlight included Joanna A. Tomicka, Olga Kotková, Cécile Tainturier and Nadine Orenstein.
