After several years as a part-time Curator of Old Masters at the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, Norbert Middelkoop will resign from his position in Haarlem at the beginning of next year.
Since June of 2021, Norbert has been seconded as curator to the Frans Hals Museum from the Amsterdam Museum, where he has worked for more than 25 years as curator of paintings, prints and drawings. During his time in Haarlem, he was involved in the organization of the exhibitions Newcomers: Flemish Artists in Haarlem 1580-1630 (2022-23) and Views of Haarlem: The City Depicted in the 17th Century (22 September 2023 – 7 January 2024) as well as an international Frans Hals symposium, the proceedings of which will be published in the spring of 2024.
Norbert will return to the Amsterdam Museum full-time on 15 January 2024, to focus on international exhibition projects and the reinstallation of the museum’s permanent exhibition after the current renovation.
