The RKD Appoints Yvonne Bleyerveld as Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings, ca. 1500-1800

It is with pleasure that the RKD ─ Netherlands Institute for Art History announces the appointment of dr. Yvonne Bleyerveld as its new Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings, ca. 1500-1800, per 1 September 2017.

Over the years Yvonne has built up an impressive career in the field of Netherlandish art. She studied Art History at the Free University (Amsterdam), where she also gained her PhD. (promotor: prof.dr. Ilja Veldman) in 1999 with her dissertation Hoe bedriechlijck dat die vrouwen zijn. Vrouwenlisten in de beeldende kunst in de Nederlanden circa 1350-1650 (Leiden 2000). Up tot 2008 she held positions as a researcher and associate professor at the Free University (Amsterdam) and Utrecht University.

As independent scholar and editor Yvonne contributed to many exhibitions and art historical publications such as Lucas van Leyden and the Renaissance (2011), Bosch to Bloemaert. Early Netherlandish Drawings in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (2014), The Netherlandish Drawings of the 16th Century in Teylers Museum (2016) and Slow Food. Dutch and Flemish Meal Still Lifes 1600-1640 (2017). Current projects include Jan Steen’s History Pieces (Mauritshuis 2018), The New Hollstein-series on the print production of Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen (ca. 1475-1533) and the research on and publications of the ca. 30 most important drawings, ca. 1550-1820, from the collection of Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht. Besides, Yvonne is member of several (Editorial) Boards such as Teylers Tweede Genootschap, the Duparc Prize of the Maurithuis and Delineavit et Sculpsit. With her renowned scholarship, her editorial skills, her international network and charming personality, Yvonne will easily make new connections in the domain of Netherlandish Prints and Drawings. As such she will highly contribute to the positioning of the RKD as an international research institution fort the Fine Arts of the Netherlands in an international context. The RKD is much pleased to welcoming her in September and looking forward to an inspiring collaboration.
