Brill Acquires Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art (NKJ)

Brill acquires the prestigious annual, Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art and the accompanying book series, Studies in Netherlandish Art and Cultural History, effective immediately.
In a deal with WBooks (Zwolle, NL) and the renowned Foundation for Dutch Art Historical Publications, Brill, the international scholarly publisher, acquires the prestigious annual Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art and the accompanying book series Studies in Netherlandish Art and Cultural History.

Founded in 1947, the Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art (NKJ) is a peer-reviewed annual with a global reputation for publishing outstanding articles that reflect the variety and diversity of approaches to the study of Netherlandish art and culture. The NKJ fosters traditional art historical scholarship and opens up the field to innovative cross disciplinary developments. A leading annual in the field, it is ranked as an International 1 (INT1) journal in European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) and is listed in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index (Thomson Reuters).

In addition to the current print edition, a digital version of NKJ will be available for subscription as of January 2014. For this online edition all previous 61 volumes (dating back to 1947) will be digitized and made available to subscribers. New volumes within the accompanying book series will also be published in print and in digital format.

The acquisition of NKJ fits well with Brill’s growing list in Art History, and is particularly complementary to Brill’s Oud Holland, Quarterly for Dutch Art History. The Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art and the accompanying book series strengthen Brill’s position as a scholarly publisher in the area of Art History. In addition, Brill offers these titles new cross-marketing opportunities and the benefit of global sales and distribution channels in both print and online.

Effective immediately, Brill assumes publishing responsibilities for the acquired titles. As of 1 July 2013, stock will be available via Brill’s customary distribution channels. These titles were previously published by WBooks.
