CODART Study Trip to the Midwest opened in the Detroit Institute of Arts

The CODART Study Trip to the Midwest opened in the Diego Rivera Court of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) last Sunday. The European Paintings Council of the DIA invited CODART for a welcome reception and strolling dinner. Gene Gargaro, Chair of the Board of Directors and Salvador Salort Pons, Incoming Director of the DIA welcomed the study trip group, consisting of 20 members and 10 Patrons of CODART, participating in this seven day trip through the Midwest.

After an in-depth visit to the DIA’s collections with Yao-Fen You, Assistant Curator of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts, and George Keyes, former Chief Curator and Curator of European Paintings at the DIA, the group visited three private collections in the area on Monday. Today the trip continues in Toledo with a visit to the Toledo Museum of Art, before leaving for the Allen Memorial Art Museum of Oberlin in the afternoon.

Later this week, Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago are scheduled for a visit. Go to the Midwest Study Trip pages for an introduction to the program by George Keyes and background information regarding all the venues of this trip.
