Edwin Buijsen To Defend PhD Thesis on Painting Production of Adriaen Pietersz. van de Venne

On 28 November 2018, CODART member Edwin Buijsen will publicly defend his doctoral thesis on the painting production of Adriaen Pietersz. van de Venne in the auditorium of the Radboud University, Nijmegen

Edwin Buijsen started with his thesis when he was curator at the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History in The Hague. After he became Head of Collections at the Mauritshuis in 2008, the RKD enabled him to continue his research into the oeuvre of this intriguing 17th-century Dutch artist as honorary researcher.

Many people have assisted Edwin during the years. Museum colleagues, collectors and art dealers have allowed him to study their paintings up close. The CODART-network proved to be especially helpful, as it enabled Edwin to contact colleagues all over the world.
