Matthias Ubl Wins Prize for His Publication ‘Der Braunschweiger Monogrammist’

The Vereniging van Nederlandse Kunsthistorici (Dutch Association of Art Historians) has awarded its annual Karel van Mander prize to Matthias Ubl. The Curator of Early Netherlandish Paintings at the Rijksmuseum received the award for his publication Der Braunschweiger Monogrammist: Wegbereiter der niederländischen Genremalerei vor Bruegel (Petersberg, 2014). The jury praised the author for covering a wide variety of aspects, ranging from iconography to technical research. The Karel van Mander prize has been awarded to extraordinary art-historical publications since 1958.
