Late 17th-century Dutch treatise on water colors discovered in French library

Information from De Volkskrant, 5 May 2014

The Bibliothèque Méjanes in Aix-en-Provence houses an interesting and rare manuscript, a Dutch treatise on watercolors from the late seventeenth century. Dutch book historian Erik Kwakkel (Leiden University) encountered the treatise online accidentally. The treatise, titled Klaer lightende spiegel der verfkonst is written by a certain A. Boogert (possibly Adriaan Boogert, a patrician’s son) in 1692 in Delft. The book gives examples of colors, with their names and recipes to create them.
