On 4 February 2011, a symposium on the phenomenon of tronies took place in the Haus der Kunst in Munich, in conjunction with the exhibition Tronies: Marlene Dumas und die Alten Meister, in the same venue. The proceedings of that symposium have now been published. It contains contributions by Arianne Baggerman, Peter Black, Rudolf Dekker, E.M.P. van Gemert, Dagmar Hirschfelder, Thomas Kirchner, León Krempel, Jan Muylle and Jan Nicolaisen.
