Dr. Hugh Hudson, Honorary Research Fellow, Art History. The University of Melbourne has made available on his website, ultra high resolution images of Jan van Eyck’s Virgin and Child, free of charge for study purposes.
The images were made for Dr. Hudson by the National Gallery of Victoria Photography Department, to make available to interested parties. The images help reveal the condition (damages and restoration) of the paint surface of the Ince Hall Virgin and Child, a painting in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. While much discussed in the literature, the work is not easily accessible to scholars due to its location. Hopefully, these very high resolution images may be of interest to some of your readers.
