Appointment of New Chairs for CODART Boards: Ingrid van Engelshoven and Peter Schoon

On 19 December 2024 during a meeting at the Snijders&Rockoxhuis in Antwerp, Ingrid van Engelshoven was appointed as chair of the board of CODART. She succeeds Marjan Scharloo, who resigned from the board after eight years of service, including three years as chair. Concurrently, Peter Schoon was installed as chair of the board of the Friends of CODART Foundation, succeeding Manfred Sellink, who had served as chair of the board since 2021.

Ingrid van Engelshoven

Ingrid van Engelshoven is a former Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science from 2017 until 2022. She currently works as a cultural consultant at Blueyard, a an Amsterdam-based consultancy firm specializing in the cultural and creative industries. Previously, she was an alderman and deputy mayor of The Hague, and she also served as chair of the political party Democrats 66. Van Engelshoven studied political science at Radboud University Nijmegen and law at Leiden University. As Minister, she demonstrated a deep passion for culture. The board is confident that her experience and affinity with art and international relations will further strengthen CODART’s position in the years to come.

Peter Schoon

Peter Schoon is the former director of the Dordrechts Museum and a well-known figure in the Dutch museum world. In 2002, he became director of the municipal museums of Dordrecht, starting with the Dordrechts Museum and Huis Van Gijn, and later also taking on Het Hof van Nederland and the Dordrecht Regional Archives. He retired in the spring of 2022. As one of the founding members of CODART, Schoon was particularly active during the first ten years of the organization. In the course of his long career as a museum director, he built up an extensive and valuable network, which he will gladly use to further enhance the success of the Friends of CODART Foundation.

We would like to express our deep appreciation for Marjan Scharloo’s commitment and tireless efforts over the past years. Since assuming the role in 2021, she has been instrumental in shaping the plans for the future of CODART and solidifying its independent position. Nothing went past her keen eye and her strong guidance and support will be missed by both the board and director of CODART.

As an experienced museum director and curator, Manfred Sellink has made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Friends of CODART in over the past years. In addition, as one of CODART’s founding members, former member of the program committee and the board of CODART, Manfred has made an extraordinary contribution to CODART as a whole. We are very grateful for his dedication to the organization and thankful that we can continue to turn to him for advice whenever needed.
