Full time – Grade 9: Salary scale £44,620 – £51,702 p.a.
Five years in the first instance, then reappointment to retirement upon completion of a successful review.

This position with curatorial responsibility for the Northern European collections involves research, teaching, public outreach and collections care.

The successful applicant will be a specialist in Dutch, Flemish and/or German art, with direct experience of works of art and preferably specialist knowledge of prints.

S/he will have a doctoral degree or equivalent knowledge or experience, and excellent IT, organizational and communication skills. S/he will have the potential to produce publications of international standing, and to undertake University teaching. S/he will play a full curatorial role in the Department, reporting to the Keeper.

S/he will develop research and exhibition projects with national / international partners. S/he will enhance the presentation and interpretation of the collections through acquisitions, gallery displays, documentation and online resources. S/he will contribute to their care and security and will be committed to high standards of public service.

S/he should be able to communicate and understand at working level at least one relevant language such as Dutch/Flemish and/or German; a second language would be desirable.
