News from the Prado: a new Deputy Director for Collections and Research and changes in the curatorial department of Flemish and Northern European Paintings

Miguel Falomir Faus, until recently in charge of Italian Renaissance painting, has been appointed as the museum’s new Deputy Director for Collections and Research. He has succeeded Gabriele Finaldi, who has recently been appointed Director of the National Gallery in London. Flemish and Northern European Paintings

The curatorial department of Flemish and Northern European Paintings remains divided into three sections: ‘Netherlandish and German paintings of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries’, ‘Flemish paintings of the seventeenth century’ and ‘Dutch paintings of the seventeenth century’.
Alejandro Vergara remains the senior curator in charge of the curatorial department of Flemish and Northern European Paintings.
Teresa Posada Kubissa (who in 2010 published the catalog of Dutch Paintings at the Prado) has been named appointed head in charge of seventeenth century Dutch paintings.
As of June 2015 José Juan Pérez Preciado was named assistant curator for fifteenth and sixteenth century Netherlandish paintings and Flemish seventeenth century paintings.
