Tristan Schiff has been appointed as the new curator of Old Masters of the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. Schiff succeeds Christi Klinkert, who took up a position at the Frans Hals Museum in February.
Schiff has worked as a curator for Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam for the past few years. There he curated several exhibitions about the rich history and collection of the historic canal house. His interests include sixteenth-century Netherlandish painting and seventeenth-century Dutch painting, portraiture and the history of collecting. Schiff is no stranger to Alkmaar. His father ran an auction house for many years in Overdie, a district of the city.
Along with the appointment of Tristan Schiff, the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar also announced the departure of director Patrick van Mil, who has been director of the museum since 2016 and will retire on 1 August.
