Changes in the CODART Program Committee: New Chair and Members

In the past months, there have been a number of significant changes within the CODART Program Committee. During the congress in Cologne, we said farewell to Quentin Buvelot as chair of the committee. He is succeeded by Marjan Debaene, Head Curator at Museum M in Leuven and a specialist in medieval sculpture, who has been a member of the committee since 2020. It is with great confidence that we anticipate her successful leadership of the committee in the years to come. We thank Quentin for his great commitment and always enthusiastic chairmanship.

We are also pleased to announce that Alexander Dencher and Tico Seifert are joining the committee. They succeed Femke Diercks, whose term ended last December, and Micha Leeflang, who resigned from the committee following a change in her professional activities. We regret having to say farewell to Femke and Micha, and we thank them for their dedication and valuable contributions in recent years

Alexander Dencher

Alexander Dencher was appointed Curator of Furniture at the Rijksmuseum in 2022 after serving as the museum’s Assistant Curator of Decorative and Assistant Proffessor at Leiden University. CODART is pleased that Alexander’s addition to the committee will allow us to continue to secure the role of the applied arts within the network.

Tico Seifert

Tico Seifert has been Senior Curator of Northern European Art at the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh since 2008. In the same year he received his PhD from the Freie Universität Berlin for his dissertation on Pieter Lastman, on whom he published a monograph in 2011. Tico is a familiar face in the CODART network. After becoming a member in 2006, he actively participated in several congresses and study days. We are very glad to welcome Tico back to the committee, which he joined in 2015 but had to leave early due to personal circumstances.

CODART Program Committee

The Program Committee is the main representative body for CODART members and its primary focus is on the content of CODART’s program of activities. It sets the annual congress theme, helps to shape program content, and advises on the conditions for CODART membership.

The composition of the current program committee can be found on the Committees page of the CODART website. Factors such as geographical distribution and representation of the various periods of art history and specializations are taking into account, seeking to ensure the appropriate proportional representation of CODART’s membership.
