CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

Pieter de Hooch in Delft

On Monday 28 October, we organized a CODARTfocus in partnership with Museum Prinsenhof Delft, which was dedicated entirely to the exhibition Pieter de Hooch in Delft: From the Shadow of Vermeer.

This large-scale exhibition will bring many works by the Delft master, owned by museums all over the world, back to his native city. Museum Prinsenhof Delft has adopted an ambitious approach and is organizing the first ever major retrospective of Pieter de Hooch’s work in the Netherlands. Besides trying to bring together as many of his works as possible, the museum has also taken the initiative for in-depth research. For instance, in partnership with others, most notably the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, several of his paintings have been comprehensively examined and restored. During this CODARTfocus, we not only paid an exclusive visit to the exhibition, but also discussed the findings of the research conducted in advance of this remarkable show. We concluded the day with a walk around the city, passing locations related to the artist and his work.
