CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

New Curator in the Spotlight: Nico Van Hout

In the latest edition of Curator in the Spotlight, CODART member Nico Van Hout is looking forward to the reopening of the renovated Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA). The museum was closed for almost half of Nico’s career, but that did not prevent him from curating exhibitions and collection displays at other locations. In addition, hundreds of artworks were cleaned and restored in preparation for the new museum, in which Nico – trained as a restorer – was closely involved. As of this weekend, the works of art can be seen in the brand new, thematically arranged, collection presentation of the KMSKA.

Nico Van Hout is Head of Collection Research and Curator Seventeenth Century Paintings, Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He has been a member of CODART since 2004.

Curator in the Spotlight

The Curator in the Spotlight is a special feature on the CODART website that introduces one of CODART’s members and their work as a curator of Dutch and Flemish art. Every time a different curator writes about their work, projects and exhibitions, and a piece in their collection that is special to them. Recent curators in the spotlight included Betsy Wieseman, Yuri van der Linden, Hildegard van de Velde and Femke Diercks.
