CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

Wednesday 15 March – Ghent (optional)

On Wednesday we have scheduled a full day excursion to Ghent. In the morning we will visit St. Bavo’s Cathedral where the Ghent Altarpiece, after its extensive restoration, has been reinstalled in a new display case in the cathedral’s Sacrament Chapel. After our visit to the cathedral, we will travel to the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK) where we will have lunch and continue our program.

In the MSK, Frederica Van Dam, curator of Theodoor Rombouts: Virtuoso of Flemish Caravaggism at the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK), will give us a guided tour through this exhibition. This first monographic display of works of the Antwerp master features a dialogue between Rombouts’s work and some of his major contemporaries, such as Bartolomeo Manfredi and Hendrick ter Brugghen. After the visit to the exhibition, there is some time left to visit the permanent collection of the museum.
