CODART NEGEN Congress: location
Location & accommodation
Location
Inspired by the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Rembrandt’s birth and the exhibition Rembrandt’s mother, myth and reality at the Stedelijk Museum de Lakenhal, the congress will take place in Leiden. Easy to reach from Amsterdam or Schiphol Airport, Leiden is known for its many museums, which include the natural history museum, the botanical garden, the Rijksmuseum van Volkenkunde (museum of ethnology), Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (museum of antiquities, including an Egyptian collection), Museum Boerhaave (science), the Sieboldhuis (Japan), Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal (Rembrandt and Leiden) and Molen De Valk, a museum in a windmill. Leiden is also home to the oldest university in the Netherlands, founded on 8 February 1575. The city is compact enough to be explored on foot. As an introduction to the town there will be a guided tour on Sunday. Sign up for this tour on the registration form.
Accommodation
We have found a three-star and a four-star hotel within walking distance of the historic centre of Leiden and the museums.
