CODART, Dutch and Flemish art in museums worldwide

New Curator in the Spotlight: Stephan Kemperdick

In the latest edition of our Curator in the Spotlight, CODART member Stephan Kemperdick tells us how he initially studied at the Dusseldorf Art Academy to become an artist. This sparked his interest in art history and early Netherlandish painting, which eventually resulted in a dissertation on Rogier van der Weyden and the Master of Flémalle. Stephan has been a curator at the Gemäldegalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin since 2008, and joined CODART in 2005. Since 2017 he has a seat on our Program Committee.

Curator in the Spotlight

The Curator in the Spotlight is a special feature on the CODART website that introduces one of CODART’s members and their work as a curator of Dutch and Flemish art. Every time a different curator writes about their work, projects and exhibitions, and a piece in their collection that is special to them. Recent curators in the spotlight included Adam Eaker, Valerie Herremans, Dorota Juszcak, and Arthur K. Wheelock.
