CODARTfocus: Dordrecht and Leiden

On Monday 9 May 2011 CODART organizes the first CODARTfocus meeting together with the Dordrechts Museum and Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden. This event is organized on the occasion of the recent re-opening of the museum in Dordrecht, after extensive renovation and refurbishment, and the Lucas van Leyden and the Renaissance exhibition in Museum De Lakenhal. Both museums open their doors on this Monday exclusively for the CODART-group.

In the morning, the group will visit the Dordrechts Museum’s permanent collection in its new, refurbished surroundings, the restoration studio and the new exhibition wing with its maiden exhibition Collectors in Dordrecht under the expert guidance of the makers, including Sander Paarlberg, curator of Old Master paintings, Dordrechts Museum, Dordrecht.

After lunch an in-depth visit to the Lucas van Leyden exhibition with the three exhibition-curators will follow. Each curator will guide you through the exhibition showing their personal highlights and each focusing on their own field of expertise. Christiaan Vogelaar, chief curator and curator of Old Master paintings and decorative arts, Museum De Lakenhal, Leiden will focus on painting and glass painting, Jan Piet Filedt Kok, former chief curator of early Netherlandish painting, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam on technical aspects and attribution of paintings, and Huigen Leeflang, curator of prints, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam focuses on prints and drawings.
